What They Didn't Teach You in Medical School
Learn what they didn't teach you in medical school
Don't risk the time, energy money and emotion you and your loved ones have invested in your medical school and residency. I promise you, it's possible to have the practice you desire. Even though medical school and residency didn't prepare you to run a business, you can still learn how to own a thriving medical practice.
David Norris’ writings represent a unique synthesis of financial/managerial accounting theory and the very practical application of physician practice management. My personal physician told me that he’d rather do anything other than review financial statements. Even my doctor would read this book! This very readable book gives a solid overview of financial matters as seen through the lens of a clinician. I would expect that this book would make the reader a much more informed consumer of very critical financial issues.

"The Financially Intelligent Physician" helped me demystify medical finance. As the president of a mid-sized private medical group, I have always felt insecure as I began analyzing our numbers. I was often wary of the other side of the table, afraid the lawyers and barons of the industry would pull one over on me. Now, I view the interaction as a partnership, and my understanding of how I bring value to our clients is more apparent than ever. By reading this book, I began to level that playing field.

Thank you for taking the time to write this book! I am enjoying reading it and I wish this book was available once I finished residency! I think it should be part of every chief resident's curriculum. No one teaches us how to evaluate our financials in medical school or residency, yet we are expected to know how to run the practice as a business. I look forward to reading your next book!
- Fadi Joudi, MD (Urologist)
Dr. Norris has been game-changing in my life. As a physician-in-training, there is always a level of uncertainty regarding; what I am going to do after I finish my residency or fellowship? Personally, this was happening to me a few months ago. I was not sure what was the best path for me; joining a private oncology practice, stay in the academics or just affiliate to a big hospital. But recently I started the Financial Intelligent Physician course and my objectives changed completely. After learning the principles and fundaments of finances and accounting, methods to protect a medical practice from fraud I decided to open my own private oncology practice and at this very moment, I am working on that. I am building a team focused on the 4Ps principle. I am confident that with the principles I am learning with Dr. Norris and his accessibility to reach him by email Dr. Norris will guide me through this endeavor.
Thank you, Dr. Norris, for being my mentor.
